4 Gauge Military Cartridge ICI

British ICI 1½-inch ‘J Mk. 3T’ Cartridge – 1956

An unusual British large-bore cartridge manufactured by Imperial Chemical Industries (ICI), marked “I.C.I. 56 / SFH LOT / J Mk. 3T.” Although its dimensions can lead it to be described as approximately 4-bore or 4-gauge, the markings indicate that it belongs to the British family of 1½-inch signal or pyrotechnic cartridges, rather than being a conventional sporting shotgun cartridge.
