Alcan - Single Projectile

An unusual Alcan 12 gauge brass-cased cartridge of Italian origin, loaded with a single solid projectile rather than the conventional charge of shot.

Single-projectile shotgun cartridges were intended to give the smooth-bore sporting gun the ability to fire one substantial projectile, particularly for hunting larger game where greater penetration and concentrated striking energy were required.

Its distinctive all brass case makes this an especially striking cartridge and an interesting contrast to the more familiar paper and later plastic shotgun cases.

An unusual and highly collectable example of European sporting ammunition.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

These single-projectile cartridges may only be purchased in their original, live condition where the purchaser can present the appropriate Section 1 firearm authority, specific collector’s licence, or RFD credentials upon collection.
