Aldridge "The Hyde Park" 12 Gauge Cartridge
A nice Aldridge “The Hyde Park” 12-bore sporting cartridge, supplied under the name of Edward Aldridge, gunmaker of Hyde Park Corner, Ipswich, Suffolk.
“The Hyde Park” was one of a small number of proprietary shotgun cartridge names associated with Aldridge, alongside the “Crown” and “Anglian.” The name appears to have been derived from the firm's location at Hyde Park Corner, Ipswich, rather than London's better-known Hyde Park.
Provincial gunmaker cartridges such as this are particularly interesting survivors of the traditional British sporting trade, recalling a period when local gunmakers and retailers supplied cartridges carrying their own distinctive names and branding.
