Eley "Special Wildfowling" Cartridge 12 gauge
A scarce Eley “Special Wildfowling” 12-bore cartridge, produced specifically for the demanding requirements of traditional British wildfowling.
The Special Wildfowling was one of Eley’s purpose-designed sporting loads for use on ducks and geese, where wildfowlers required dependable ammunition capable of performing in the exposed and often wet conditions encountered on estuaries, salt marshes and coastal foreshores.
Historical records show the Special Wildfowling being offered with Schultze smokeless powder and a 1⅛ oz shot load, reflecting its intended use as a substantial sporting cartridge for wildfowl.
The distinctive cartridge is also recorded with a crimson paper case, making surviving examples immediately appealing alongside Eley’s other classic named sporting cartridges.
