K.D.Radcliffe 12 Gauge Cartridge
A hard to find K. D. Radcliffe 12-bore sporting cartridge, supplied under the name of the long-established gunmaking and sporting firm of Colchester, Essex.
K. D. Radcliffe became associated with the traditional East Anglian gun trade, supplying sporting guns, ammunition and shooting equipment to generations of local sportsmen.
Like many respected regional gunmakers and retailers, Radcliffe supplied shotgun ammunition carrying the firm's own name. Such cartridges are interesting examples of the once widespread British practice of local gunshops offering house-branded ammunition to their customers.
The cartridge provides an attractive connection with the sporting heritage of Colchester and the surrounding Essex countryside, and is an unusual example of ammunition bearing the name of an independent East Anglian gunmaker.
