Kynoch Birmingham 10 Gauge Gastight" Cartridge
Kynoch Birmingham 10 Gauge Gastight" Cartridge
A very early rare example with the Kynoch Lions Head Logo
A fine early example of a large-bore Eley paper-cased cartridge, the 10 bore belongs to an era when substantial sporting guns were used for wildfowling and other specialist purposes.
Far larger than the familiar 12 bore, the 10 bore could carry a considerably heavier charge of shot and was particularly associated with wildfowling, where its greater payload was suited to shooting geese and other waterfowl at longer ranges.
Eley was one of Britain’s most important ammunition manufacturers, and surviving paper-cased 10-bore cartridges provide a fascinating reminder of the large-bore sporting guns of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
An impressive and increasingly collectable piece of British shooting and wildfowling history.
