Page-Woods "Anti-Recoil No.2" 12 Gauge Cartridge
A scarce and technically interesting T. Page-Wood “Anti-Recoil” 12-bore cartridge, produced by the historic Bristol gunmaker and ammunition specialist.
Thomas Page-Wood established his business in Bristol in 1876 and became particularly interested in cartridge design and manufacture, securing a number of patents relating to the loading and closure of shotgun cartridges.
During the 1920s, Page-Wood developed a distinctive cartridge employing a stepped or conical closure with a smaller overshot wad. The design was intended to provide improved performance while reducing perceived recoil and was marketed under the memorable “Anti-Recoil” name.
